Contract Controversy
As per a May 2020 report in the NY Post, amidst a standoff between Barstool and Sofia/Alexandra, the duo aimed to disengage from Barstool. According to the NY Post, during the feud, the girls were under a contract that remunerated them each $75,000 yearly. Additionally, they could earn $2,500 whenever an episode exceeded 10 percent of the show’s average audience. In protest, Franklyn and Cooper ceased recording episodes in early April 2020 for multiple weeks. During this period, Sofia’s partner, an HBO executive named Peter Nelson, purportedly negotiated a new deal for the pair at a different company, disregarding their ongoing contract.
Barstool founder David Portnoy disclosed that he proposed new contracts to the duo, offering high six-figure salaries and a pathway to reclaim their IP. An insider informed the Post that Cooper seemed open to the proposal, whereas Franklyn was not inclined.
In the end, Sofia exited the show to inaugurate her personal podcast named “Sofia with an F.”
