A$AP Rocky, an American rapper, has a net worth of $20 million. A member of the hip-hop collective A$AP Mob, he adopted his moniker from it. Apart from his success in hip-hop music and apparel, A$AP Rocky is also a noted record producer, producing under the pseudonym Lord Flacko.

Rakim Athelaston Mayers, known as A$AP Rocky, was born on October 3, 1988, in Manhattan, New York. His upbringing started in Harlem but his family moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, when he was 9 years old. Mayers developed an interest in rap music during primary school and by the third grade, he was already creating his own rap songs. At the age of 12, his father got incarcerated for drug dealing, his older brother was tragically killed, and the rest of his family had to stay in a shelter. While living in various homeless shelters with his mother and sister, A$AP Rocky sold cannabis and crack and never stopped writing rap songs. He even spent two weeks in prison for drug dealing, where he shared a cell with Cassanova, another future rapper.

A$AP Rocky became a part of the A$AP Mob Crew back in 2007. He gained national recognition in early 2011 when his single “Peso” made its way onto the internet and then to Hot 97, one of the tri-state area’s top radio stations. Soon after, another track called “Purple Swag” followed, and they both became instant hits with their accompanying music videos. He signed a record deal worth $3 million with Sony, RCA Records, and Polo Grounds Music. This deal included $1.7 million for his solo work and $1.3 million for funding his company ASAP Worldwide, alongside A&R and executive producer Steven Rodriguez (also known as ASAP Yams).

Rocky’s first live performance was at the Pitchfork Music Festival in July 2012. However, he faced an arrest the night before his scheduled TV debut on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” later that month due to his alleged involvement in a brawl. His performance was rescheduled for August 21st, where he performed “Goldie” on the show.

In 2013, Rocky released his debut album “Long. Live. A$AP,” which received critical acclaim and debuted at the top of the “Billboard” 200 chart. He supported the album with a 40-date national tour. By March 16, 2015, “Long. Live. A$AP” had achieved Gold certification. Alongside his musical success, he launched his ASAP clothing line in the same year and collaborated with renowned fashion designer and close friend Raf Simons.

In 2014, after dropping two hit singles, Rocky’s second studio album “At. Long. Last. ASAP” was leaked online a week before its expected release date. Despite positive reviews, the album debuted at the top of the “Billboard” 200 chart but faced a rapid decline in sales, making it his lowest-selling album to date.

In 2018, Rocky collaborated with Gucci Mane and 21 Savage on the track “Cocky” to promote the film “Uncle Drew.” He released singles “Bad Company” on March 27th, 2018, and “A$AP Forever” on April 5th of the same year. His third album, “Testing,” hit the shelves on May 25, 2018, debuting at #4 on the “Billboard” charts. Personal Life

Rocky had relationships with rapper Iggy Azalea from 2011 to 2012 and was briefly engaged to model Chanel Iman from 2013 to 2014. In May 2021, Rocky disclosed his relationship with Rihanna. They welcomed a baby boy, RZA, in May 2022. During the Super Bowl LVII halftime show, Rihanna announced her pregnancy with their second child, Riot, who was born in August 2023.

Rocky mentioned that he used to be a pescatarian but now follows a vegan diet.

Legal Issues

Rocky faced a lawsuit in July 2012 for allegedly attacking a man who had seen him using drugs in a clothing store in NYC. He was arrested for assault after images of the incident emerged and later reached a plea deal.

On August 31, 2014, Rocky was charged with assault for allegedly slapping a woman at a music festival. The case was dropped due to a missing witness, but the woman filed a lawsuit in July 2014, which was settled privately in April 2015.

In July 2019, Rocky was arrested in Stockholm, Sweden, for aggravated assault following a street altercation with Mustafa Jafari. Rocky uploaded videos of the incident to Instagram, showing an altercation where Jafari was injured. Despite efforts from various figures for his release, he faced trial on July 30. Found guilty of assault, he received a suspended prison sentence he had already served and paid damages to the victim.

In April 2022, Rocky was arrested by LAPD at Los Angeles International Airport regarding a Hollywood shooting incident in November 2021. After bail and a search of his home, he faced charges filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office in August 2022.
