Wireless Docs: In Search of Tūrangawaewae
By The Wireless.
Prabodh Kumar Mishra, originally from Fiji, has memories that resemble a journey through history. During his initial career in Fiji’s Foreign Affairs, he engaged with royalty – meeting the Queen and receiving a less-than-flattering opinion on kava from Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Amid Fiji’s 1987 coup, he assisted the private secretary of the ousted prime minister in eluding coup leader Sitiveni Rabuka. Following threats to his family, necessitating him to escape the country, he had to establish a new life from scratch in New Zealand.
In a new short film created by his son Rajeev Mishra for Wireless Docs, he revisits his past adventures and reflects on the ups and downs of his life.
