Wasteland: Out with a dumpster diver

Wednesday 11th February 2015

Wasteland follows Wellington dumpster diver Nobbs as he scavenges from bins around the city.

We also hear from food rescue charity Kaibosh about the work they do to redistribute food that would have otherwise gone to waste.

Director Steph Miller made this documentary to bring attention to what she sees as the unnecessary food waste happening in a society where there are a significant number of people struggling.

Editor's note: Dumpster divers have been charged with theft in recent years and the Food Safety Authority has warned against the risk of becoming ill from spoiled or contaminated food found in dumpsters.
