The only racism exposed here is the instant reaction against celebrating European heritage.

Imagine a new Maori group accused of being pro cannibals by the HRC?

The hate being exposed here is disgusting.

Not to mention hypocrisy with anti christian views being acceptable but criticism of Islam is met with hste and censorship.

I doubt there'd be any problem if there was a group called Maori Students Group or Samoan Students Group or Chinese Students Group?

This group is concerning because there's ambiguity about their true purpose and values. If they want a Medieval Enactment club, why not call themselves that? If they want a club for international students from Europe, why not clarify that in their messaging?
The difference between a European Students Club and a Maori or Pacifika Students Club is that the whole freaking university is a European Students Club.

European descent people's not necessarily just "white" people .what's the big deal here can't anyone be proud of their heritage ,we have Chinese new year ,is that a big deal. we all immigrated to New Zealand so just be proud of a home land where ever it was.

PFFFFFFFFT AH HA HA HA

A pro-European club is automatically white supremacist because it displays AN IMPORTANT HISTORICAL FIGURE IN NEW ZEALAND and DARES celebrate European culture?!

These are the same ignorant people that see an Iron Cross or hear "Kaiserreich" and shout "MUH NAZIS". It's almost as if German culture was a beautiful thing before Hitler stole it, and people are proud of pre-Nazi Germany!
Another example: "Gott Mittuns" is a Prussian term used far before Germany united, but everyone shouts "MUH NAZIS" when the monarchists use it.

The only racism here, as one commentator said before me, is the immediate backlash this club is getting for DARING to promote and celebrate European culture and history! Not to mention that "loyalty is our strength" is ubitiquous: THE TWENTY SIXTH CALVARY DIVISION OF THE USA USES IT.

-and "OUR PRIDE IS OUR LOYALTY" is the TITLE OF A SONG BY A BAND CALLED "SKREWDRIVER", not a Nazi theme.

My GOSH, how stupid are leftists these days?!

What goes around comes around. Just like any other disease. Regrettably it's part of the human condition. It goes with the historical amnesia which characterises the swing to the far right in Europe and the USA. This was bound to infect sections of NZ society at some time and what more likely than the student body in Auckland? There is nothing to be done about it in terms of silencing these extreme right wing views by policy initiatives. Censorship plays right in to the hands of such bigots and racists, so the most effective response is the mobilisation of democratic forces against them. Concerned democratic organisations and individuals must rally against them. The alternative is unthinkable.

Calling people racist for simply wanting to celebrate their heritage makes you the racist.
And you are being exposed to that fact and your time to publicly announce your bigotry safe from criticism is ending.
